Starlink has launched in Vietnam, giving customers another option alongside the country's fixed and mobile internet providers.

The company announced availability on its official X account early on August 13 in Vietnam. Customers can enter their service address through the Vietnamese ordering page.

At launch, the entry residential plan was advertised at about VND1.13 million per month for speeds of up to 100 Mbps. A higher tier cost about VND1.71 million per month, with the company advertising speeds above 400 Mbps.

Those are advertised service figures, rather than results from a local performance test. Tuoi Tre's launch-day report also recorded unlimited data and a 30-day money-back guarantee. Equipment is a separate purchase, with the final price depending on the kit and address.

The commercial opening follows February's regulatory approval. The government's account of the licence handover describes permission for four gateway stations and up to 600,000 user terminals in the first phase. That is an authorisation limit, not a subscriber count.

Vietnam follows earlier Southeast Asian launches in the Philippines, Malaysia and Indonesia.

At those prices, the more likely use is a property that can't get a suitable terrestrial connection, or a business that wants a backup. A household with affordable, reliable fibre has a different comparison to make.

The installation matters too. Trees, rooflines and surrounding terrain can cause obstructions, even at an address where the service is available to order. A backup connection also needs enough power to keep the terminal and local network running.

Update: in an August 24 Reddit discussion, a prospective Mini buyer was asking about delivery, performance and travel outside Vietnam. The thread is a useful place to follow those questions; it doesn't establish measured Vietnamese speeds or permission to use a terminal abroad.
