Starlink has launched its satellite broadband service in Timor-Leste. The company confirmed availability on December 11, 2024.
Starlink described Timor-Leste as its 116th country, territory or market. The launch extends the company's Southeast Asian footprint after its earlier arrivals in Malaysia, the Philippines and Indonesia.
The service could offer another route online for properties beyond the reach of a suitable fixed connection. In a mountainous country, finding a workable dish position is part of that calculation. A connection that is available to order still needs enough open sky at the installation site to remain useful.
Check the proposed dish position for obstructions before ordering. The plans offered for an address can be checked on Starlink’s live availability map.
