Starlink has launched its satellite broadband service in the Solomon Islands. The company confirmed availability on September 4, 2024.
The Solomon Islands has joined Starlink's Pacific footprint. The launch follows Fiji and Tonga, adding another island country where customers can check an address and order satellite broadband.
For a site away from a strong terrestrial connection, the value could be considerable. Sharing a terminal across a school or business needs more planning than connecting one household, though. Local networking, power and the number of simultaneous users all affect what the connection can actually support.
