Starlink has launched its satellite broadband service in Rwanda. The company confirmed availability on February 22, 2023.

Rwanda follows Nigeria in Starlink's early African rollout. The launch adds an inland East African market to a network that had only just started offering commercial service on the continent.

The potential use is straightforward for a site beyond a suitable fixed or mobile connection: a dish can bring the broadband link to the premises without a last-mile cable. A school or business still has to budget for local Wi-Fi and power if it wants to share that connection across a building.

Check the proposed dish position for obstructions before ordering. The plans offered for an address can be checked on Starlink’s live availability map.
