Starlink has launched service in New Zealand, starting with parts of the South Island as its international beta rollout expands.
SpaceX's submission to Radio Spectrum Management records March 11, 2021 as the New Zealand service start. That company record provides a firmer date than later reports about individual deliveries.
The launch-week update describes the initial South Island service area and says expansion will follow. It accompanies the opening in Germany and further growth in the U.K.
For a rural New Zealand property, the potential benefit is a connection that doesn't need a fixed cable to reach the premises. It isn't an announcement that the entire country can immediately order, or that all applicants will receive equipment at the same time.
A service address still needs to be checked through Starlink. At the property itself, trees, buildings and nearby terrain can affect the view of the sky that the dish needs.
Our New Zealand installation directory is a starting point for the ground setup. The beta's practical value will depend on what it delivers at the individual property compared with the connection already available there.
