Starlink has opened its Belgian beta, following the Netherlands a week earlier.

A May 20 customer post reproduces the company email. It describes limited supply, expected downloads of 50 to 150 Mbps and possible interruptions as the network is developed.

Those are the company's expectations in the beta message, rather than measured Belgian results. The recipient identifies an address in Brussels, but that doesn't establish the same availability or order schedule for every Belgian property.

The email directs people to enter their service address and offers a deposit queue where an immediate order is unavailable. A preorder therefore needs to be distinguished from a terminal that is ready to ship.

For a property without a suitable terrestrial connection, the service could add a useful option. Somebody already getting reliable fixed broadband has a different decision to make about the equipment and recurring cost.

Our Belgian installation directory covers planning the ground setup. Even an eligible address needs enough open sky for the dish to work reliably.
