Starlink has launched its satellite broadband service in South Sudan. The company confirmed availability on August 22, 2024.
South Sudan has joined Starlink's commercial footprint in Africa. Its addition brings another landlocked country into a service that can connect an individual property without a fixed line being extended to it.
That could make the service useful for remote offices, health facilities and other sites with limited connectivity choices. The equipment still has to be installed and powered locally. For an organisation sharing a connection, a suitable router and Wi-Fi network are separate needs from the satellite link itself.
Check the proposed dish position for obstructions before ordering. The plans offered for an address can be checked on Starlink’s live availability map.
