easyJet is adding onboard internet for the first time, with Starlink installations due to start in the first half of 2027.
The airline announced the agreement on October 26. It covers its Airbus A320, A320neo and A321neo aircraft, with the rollout expected to finish by early 2028.
For passengers, the bigger change is going from no onboard internet to a connection intended to support streaming, gaming and browsing on their own devices. easyJet also says travelers will be able to check flight details and destination information while in the air.
There’s an important detail missing: the announcement doesn’t say what passengers will pay, or whether access will be included in the fare. It also doesn’t name the first routes or aircraft to get the service. The A319 isn’t among the aircraft types listed.
The deal follows earlier doubts about the cost. Reuters reports that CEO Kenton Jarvis described the economics of onboard Wi-Fi as challenging in January. The airline hasn’t disclosed the commercial terms of its agreement with SpaceX, so there’s no confirmed explanation of what changed financially.
As United’s rollout has shown, availability can vary between aircraft even after an airline starts offering Starlink.
