I did a quick temporary install on our roof and it worked great other than cables running down the roof and through the top of a window - temporarily.

Then the "professional" installer affiliated with DSI was scheduled (twice and cancelled). Finally they commit to show up between 8-12 on a Thursday. Called at 10 and said "likely 11:00"... called at 11:00 and said "likely noon or 12:30"... called at 2:00 and said "likely 3:00"... I CALLED at 3:30 and was told "can't make it but another DSI installer in your area will be there at 5:00".. 5:00 PM, frigid cold, pitch black on my roof. Shows up, rushed, did a HORRIBLE job and ran cable all over when he could have done it so much easier. Drilled a hole in my living room ceiling (4 feet from the location he was shooting for). Then decided maybe he should measure... FROM THE HOLE he drilled. Rushed the job, finished it and left. All for $185 installation I paid for a "professional". Yes - it works if you don't mind cable rolling around on your roof, running to a vent on the gable and a hole in my living room ceiling. Disgusting.

They are not "professional" at all and are hacks paid by the install so they take on as many as they can in a day. My original installer told me DSI added 3 more installs to his list so what does he do? Pushes my pre-scheduled appoint ment from 8-12 until 5PM.

Looking to switch out Hughes Net (sucks) to a Starlink. We currently have poor cellphone reception; have to move around to find 'a good spot'. Thinking about mounting on the garage roof, which is metal. I thought I read something about not installing on metal roof. Are longer cables available; I'd prefer to mount on a pole at the top of our ridge. TIA

Have you seen or noticed a difference in the quality of service from Starlink - briefly looking at StarLink for our firm.

Thanks!

Starlink just increased my Roam service price from $150/mo. to $165/mo. (Today is 9/11/2024). The service was already poor for making Wi-Fi calls (well useless actually) so this price increase really has me angry.

The email claims I'll now be able to use it while in motion. Not sure exactly how that is supposed to work since I have the standard size Dishy. Stick it out the window of my car plugged into my cigarette lighter?

I will probably get rid of it.

Hi Mark, while I understand your frustrations, it's only a matter of time until they'll be resolved. Starlink can only provide a set amount of data per local cell and in order to not taint the user experience, it's required to limit registrations.

I like how Elon Musk serves other countries with better options for Starlink; half the price in other countries, hell you can even rent the equipment in other countries. I can see what kind of American company Starlink is and it's one NOT for Americans.
